Biography

John Haysbert is a director of federal government affairs for Duke Energy in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for managing a variety of issues affecting Duke Energy, including gas distribution, cyber security, transmission infrastructure, energy efficiency, smart grid technology, disaster preparedness and human resources.

Previously, Haysbert worked in the United States Senate on energy legislation referred to the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He provided industry knowledge to members of congress on cost implications and benefits for the 2009 American Clean Energy Leadership Act (ACELA)—in addition to clean energy technology deployment, enhanced energy efficiency, improved energy security, energy innovation and workforce energy markets.

Haysbert also held several roles within Cinergy/Cincinnati Gas and Electric (now Duke Energy) in Meter Operations, Accounting, Inclusion Strategies, Human Resources, Corporate Security and Facilities.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Haysbert graduated with an MBA and a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He and his wife Robyn are active in a number of professional and community organizations and they have a daughter and son.
